CCRE Fellowship Scheme
The Diabetes CCRE recognises that there is a lack of programs to support the retention of highly qualified individuals after their PhD or MD completion and often it can be difficult to develop clinical research projects after the resumption of clinical practice.
The CCRE-supported program is designed to encourage a cohort of clinical researchers to reach their research potential rather than drift into full-time clinical practice. It is intended to provide support for the preliminary establishment of research projects, leading to the application for successful procurement of grants and/or fellowships.
The fellowship program also incorporates a mentorship scheme whereby a CCRE Fellow is mentored by a CI or AI not directly related to their research area.
The success of the scheme is seen through the ability of CCRE Fellows to obtain highly competitive grant funding, getting them well on the way to establishing strong independent research careers:
