Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) Pump Therapy Guidelines©
The Victorian Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) Working Party recently produced a comprehensive document outlining guidelines on establishing an insulin pump clinic. These guidelines were produced as an increasing number of people in Australia with type 1 diabetes, and some with type 2 diabetes, are turning to CSII therapy to help manage their diabetes. The guidelines are intended to facilitate the establishment of additional diabetes clinics, reducing reduplication of effort.
The contributors to the document include CCRE CI Associate Professor Alicia Jenkins, CCRE AI Dr David O'Neal and other health professionals including Cheryl Steele, Meagan Buszard, Professor Peter Colman, Rebecca Gebert, Lorraine Marom, Kerryn Roem, Victoria Stevenson and Sue Wyatt.
The Diabetes CCRE sponsored the production of CDs containing a PDF of the document, which were distributed at the ADS ADEA conference in Adelaide in August 2009, thus launching the guidelines. The CDs proved highly popular, and the guidelines can now be downloaded from our website using the following link:
